Miscarriage: A Poem for Baby's Memorial Service.

by Ellen DuBois on 05/18/12

Dear Ellen,

Thank you for having this website. I've found so much comfort here because I don't feel as alone. I wish nobody had to live through this. I never dreamed I would. When I miscarried my little one just three weeks ago, my whole world changed.

I'd like to read a poem to by baby but don't know what to write. We named her Emily and I'm wondering if you could please help me find the words. I know it's a strange request, but I've never been much of a poet and I'd like to read something to her at a memorial my husband and I are having. If you wouldn't mind, could you lend me a hand?

Thank you so much. So sorry to all the women here who have gone through this heartbreak. It's one of the most painful things in the world.

Lisa

Dear Lisa,

I am so sorry for your loss and of course I will do my best to help you.

Here is a poem. Take it as it is or make it your own. I just pray it gives you what you're looking for, or at least a part of what you want to say.

To Our Emily,

We loved you from the moment

we knew you were there-

filled with a joy

beyond compare.

For reasons

we can never say,

you had to leave,

you could not stay.

Although we know

your life goes on,

We find it hard

to carry on.

Our love for you

will never die.

On wings of angels,

we say good bye.

You're safe in God's arms,

in Heaven above.

You'll never be forgotten.

You'll always be loved.

I'll be keeping you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers, Lisa.

Love and Light,

Ellen

"MiscarriageHelp.com is a support site for women and their families who have suffered the pain, loss and grief after miscarriage. I respond personally to each email and post and have been doing so since 2006. It's an outreach to me, as I try to connect and support those who have walked the often lonely road after miscarriage. Why? I don't want anyone to feel as alone as I did some twenty years ago after my own miscarriage." -Love & comfort to you, Ellen, - Ellen M. DuBois
